I recently read an amazing post by one of my fave bloggers, The Beauty Boomer, about a subject which takes up a stunning amount of CPU cycles for me … namely, how big my butt is becoming as I head over the hill into the hinterlands of age.

Her post covered the basics of why (why, God, WHY?) our butts sag and spread as we age and how to camouflage said spread.  I especially loved her basics on getting your jeans right (no, not your genes … we’re stuck with those.  Thanks, Mom!).  Also, it was a comfort to know that this is what happens to us all … and in case you’re thinking you can buy your way out of middle age, here’s an illustration of why that’s not necessarily a way out.  This is Helena Bonham Carter, age 44, successful actress and mother of two:

Final words:  just remember to have a mirror handy so you can check what others are looking at … even if you’re not being followed by the paparazzi, you make an impression coming and going.
