How Old Is Too Old to Rock a Music Festival?
Two years ago, my husband and I went to Coachella with two other couples. I was, wait, let’s see … carry the two, add the thing and … I was 44.
One of the couples is sort of, umm … well, they like to do everything in sort of a uber-VIP fashion so they stoked us on VIP passes so we wouldn’t have to stare at them Oliver Twist-style through the chain link fence that surrounded the VIP area (and it’s open bar and shade and places to sit down) which protected them from the great unwashed masses… which we totally would have been without those VIP wristbands. Some of us even had backstage wristbands which we traded back and forth like mad so we could each do a little “I’m with the band” when we needed to.
Anyway, here’s what day one looked like:
I’m just sayin’, this is not Woodstock. For god’s sake, I’m wearing WHITE PANTS! So is Jamie!
Day two, also promising. Here I am with Lisa backstage behind one of my all time fave DJs, James Zabiela:
Day three? Yeah. About that. Here’s the rager going on in the VIP tent that day:
Tomorrow, we head off to the lovely wasteland of Indio, CA to attend Coachella 2010. (That’s me, my husband, my six closest friends and 100,000 other festival goers. That’s not a typo. One. Hundred. Thousand. The mind reels …)
Do I feel too old for a music festival? Well, aside from the random 20-something who gushes to me, “It’s so great you’re here!” (subtext: “Grandma”) or (not so nice to hear), “How old are you, anyway?” I think I do pretty well. Of course, I’ve got the VIP pass. And the clean, air conditioned bathrooms. And the well-stocked bar. And the backstage passes. And the little golf cart that will whisk me from one stage to another behind the scenes so I don’t have to walk.
So, you know, as long as I have the option to sleep on the grass on day 3, I’d say “Hell, no, I’m not too old.” What do you think?

I found this site searching for information about synthesizing ecstasy, but this is pretty interesting also .
If Willie Nelson can do it., so can you.
