Because if this lovely girl is what we’re calling “Plus Size” these days, I am teetering on the brink.

Crystal Renn in Tush Magazine

I mean, is she really any bigger than JLo?
Seriously, what’s going on here? I’m a size 6 (usually, anyway) and I don’t look this good when I’m done up like a tart for a weekend in Vegas!
I’m kind of freaking out here …

WOW! That’s INSANE!!! So why am I feeling like a BUS now?!!!
PS: found you on SITS and loving your blog! Now a follower! Hope you’ll come say hi!

It’s so stupid how they do plus size models now. I am a size ten…If she is plus size…what am I?
Stopping by from SITS!

Btw, if those girls are plus sized, then I should be negative… errr…. yeah… cos’ I’m like really skinny and small…
Years ago (before I actually WAS plus-sized), I read an article, talking about a plus sized model and they gave her height and weight. And I discovered that if my size 8 body could grow 4 inches and shed 20 pounds, I too could be a plus sized model. It’s disturbing.

Back in the olden times when I was a model, the average model size, the size that runway clothes came in and everyone was expected to maintain was…6/8. Nowadays? It’s 0. And anyone who’s an 8 up is Plus size. Scary, right?

Seriously? I was looking at her measurements (’cause I’m obsessive like that) and she’s 5’9″. Now, I know that if you’re tall, your dress size is “bigger” … like my skinny girlfriend is 5’6″ and she can just wear my size 6′s (I’m 5’1″). The clothes just fit her differently (and, of course, better, dang it). But if this model is 5’9″ and wearing (they say) a 12, that’s just not that big at that height. A size 0 at the height is downright sick …
I’m rambling … what I really wanted to say is of course you were a model! Look at you!
That’s fun, isn’t it? One of my favorite things about being 5″1″ and wearing a 4/6 is that I’m essentially a plus-sized petite … WTF?
You’re welcome! I really enjoyed your blog … thanks for stopping by!
Like Gretchen said in her comment, those mid-range sizes used to be the norm. If a size 0 is expected of those super tall models, how on earth will girls growing up today be able to accept themselves? For the millionth time, I just have to say “Thank God I didn’t have a daughter!”
Thanks for stopping by … isn’t SITS awesome?
